Job Description

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the administration of all institutional, state, and federal financial aid, for ensuring compliance with all relevant program guidelines, and efficient distribution of funds to students.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain good standing with federal and state agencies by making proper application to each entity and by complying with federal and state regulations. Implement changes in federal and state programs, taking necessary steps to maintain institutional eligibility for all relevant programs.
  2. Complete and submit required annual reports to the Department of Education.
  3. Provide all documentation and support for the completion of the annual federal, state, and institutional audits. Coordinate internal reconciliation efforts and report to reviewing entities, such as auditors, program reviews, and accreditation teams.
  4. Provide high-level customer service and counseling to students and families.
  5. Develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and college policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain complete and accurate student files in compliance with the Department of Education standards.
  7. Determine federal and state student eligibility using the ISIR, FSA, OSFA, and any other relevant means.
  8. Review and/or perform verification process on students selected by the Department of Education and/or Trinity College.
  9. Oversees or complete all Return to Title IV transactions.
  10. Oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) process. Administer appeals process including committee and appeal guidelines, committee training, and student notification process related to SAP and Special Circumstances.
  11. Supervise the Financial Aid department staff.
  12. Reconcile all accounts on a monthly basis with the Business Office and an annual basis with the Department of Education.
  13. Work with the Business Office to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information and awards.
  14. Give presentations on Financial Aid at campus events, local area high schools, etc.
  15. Provide updated information for the Trinity College catalog.
  16. Provide relevant communication to the Brand Ambassador for social media and website (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
  17. Process federal and state VA benefits, counsel veteran students.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Title IV Financial Aid, preferably with demonstrated progressively higher levels of responsibility.
  3. Experience with PowerFAIDS processing software highly preferred.
  4. Experience working with federal and state VA benefits highly preferred.
  5. Demonstrated leadership skills, organization and supervisory experience, and problem- solving skills.
  6. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, willing to listen and respond carefully to internal and external clients.
  7. Emphasis on teamwork, energetic, goal-oriented preferred.
  8. Must be proficient with office suite apps such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
  9. Must have a servant demeanor toward the work environment and be willing to participate collaboratively with all college employees.

Physical responsibilities

  1. Must be able to lift 30lbs.
  2. Ability to sit and stand long periods of time.
  3. Ability to sit, kneel, and squat
  4. Ability to hear and see to interact with software applications, and customers both face to face and on electronic devices.
