Bookkeeper

The bookkeeper will be someone comfortable dealing with complex financial data.  Record and maintain daily financial transactions, performing reconciliations, assisting accountants in preparing financial statements and closing books, collecting debts and recording payments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintaining records of financial transactions by posting and verifying
  • Responsible for recording and reporting of student records
  • Responsible for recording and reporting on accounts payables and receivables, balancing accounts
  • Generate invoices and receipts
  • Handle student collections
  • Collaborate with Financial Aid and Registration on student invoicing
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile entries to balance subsidiary accounts
  • Maintaining a balanced general ledger
  • Preparing a trial balance for the accountants
  • Preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing accounting information
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in accounting, finance or related discipline
  • Previous bookkeeping experience 2-5 years
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Past experience with Oasis a plus
  • Previous college bookkeeping experience preferred

SKILLS

  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Understanding of industry benchmarks in accounting best practices
  • Knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP or other industry standard accounting frameworks
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet
  • Establishing accounts
  • Developing standards
  • Data entry
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles
  • Confidentiality
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfortable dealing with huge volumes of complex data
  • Willing to learn company software

Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  2. Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  3. Ability to sit, kneel, and squat
  4. Ability to hear and see to interact with software applications and customers face to face and on electronic devices.
