Human Resources Manager

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Manager serves as the primary administrator of the College’s human resources and payroll functions, supporting the institution’s mission through effective employee services, compliance, and operational excellence. This highly confidential position is responsible for managing all aspects of the employee’s lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll processing, employee relations, policy administration, and regulatory compliance. This position also plays a key role in developing and improving HR processes, maintaining employee records, and supporting organizational initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Administer all Human Resources functions for the College, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, employee training, personnel records management, employee relations, policy administration, and offboarding processes.
  2. Coordinate and process pre-employment requirements, including background checks, employment eligibility verification, and new hire documentation.
  3. Serve as the primary administrator for ADP, ensuring accurate employee setup, maintenance of employee records, payroll processing, and reporting.
  4. Process payroll and maintain payroll schedules to ensure timely and accurate compensation of all employees and student workers.
  5. Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data, including employee timesheets, work-study hours, leave balances, deductions, and payroll-related reports.
  6. Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements.
  7. Coordinate annual payroll activities, including year-end payroll reconciliation and preparation of information necessary for tax reporting and W-2 processing.
  8. Monitor and track Federal Work-Study earnings and hours and provide required reporting to the Financial Aid Office.
  9. Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), retirement plans, and other employee benefit offerings.
  10. Coordinate employee enrollments, changes, and terminations with insurance carriers, benefit providers, and third-party administrators.
  11. Serve as the primary liaison with insurance brokers and benefit providers regarding employee benefit plans, renewals, compliance requirements, and employee questions.
  12. Administer the College’s retirement plan, including timely submission of contributions and payroll-related retirement reporting to plan administrators.
  13. Coordinate workers’; compensation claims, unemployment claims, leave administration, and other employee-related insurance matters.
  14. Maintain accurate personnel files and employee records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  15. Assist with employment compliance activities, including record retention, required notices, audits, and reporting requirements.
  16. Serve as a liaison between employees and College leadership regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll matters, and personnel procedures.
  17. Prepare and submit HR-related institutional reports, including IPEDS Human Resources reporting and other required regulatory reports.
  18. Develop, maintain, and improve HR and payroll processes, procedures, and internal controls to support operational efficiency and compliance.
  19. Stay current on employment laws, payroll regulations, benefit administration requirements, and HR best practices applicable to higher education institutions.
  20. Performs other related duties as directed by the Vice President for Business and Finance and the President’s office.

The Human Resources Manager will have a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a G.E.D.) at a minimum. Need to be highly organized, utilize effective communication, and maintain positive leadership skills. Must be experienced in payroll and HR functions. A professional demeanor and appearance are required, as is a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and evidence of a Christian lifestyle and must ascribe to Trinity College’s Statement of Faith.
