Zephaniah 1:18 – The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.

It is easy to say we trust God and it is easy to say we trust every word God says. But saying something and living a life that reflects those things is quite different. Does your life reflect the truth of Scripture? Read a biography of George Müller, he led a life of absolute trust and conviction. Read about Keith Green and Billy Graham. All of these men followed God with pure abandon into unknown circumstances. Before them, Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son, Moses confront Pharaoh (kind of), John the Baptizer stood his ground before Herod, and dozens of other men and women of God trusted His guidance when prompted to act. Now, how about you? What has God called you to do that makes you nervous? Maybe God is calling you to be a missionary or a pastor. Maybe He wants you to lead a Bible study or a prayer group. Is He asking you to give money, time, or effort for His Kingdom’s sake? Take my advice; it is best to comply with His direction. We learn from Jonah that God will pursue you if you try to ignore Him (i.e., take a boat to Tarshish). But we also learned from King Saul that He will only pursue us so far before He adjusts His plan (i.e., find a young shepherd to replace you). Do you trust Him enough to do what He asks, even if you cannot see what the results may be? It’s not easy, but it is what He asks of us. Trust Him, He has an astounding track record of success.

David Miller, is the Associate Dean for the traditional program, assistance professor of Bible and theology, Director of the honors program.
