Joel 2:25 – Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the creeping locust, the stripping locust and the gnawing locust, my great army which I sent among you.

What God tells His people here is that things can and will get bad, but He is always in control. Also, He points out that He will restore our hearts from the damage caused by the world. Whether you are a follower of Christ or not, we are all subject to the poisons and pains of this world while we live here. But the message here is that, for those who follow Jesus Christ, it will be better after this world is in our rear-view mirror. God is telling His people that I see your pain and understand your struggle, but it will not always be this way. Maybe your life has been more difficult than most, and you have a hard time seeing the benefits ahead. For many, you have worked and worked to get ahead, but it never feels like “ahead” is actually going to happen. Whatever your situation is, whatever your past has been, this life is NOT the end. Stay faithful, draw near to Him, and trust that He is in control. Following Christ is not an easy road or a free pass to a better life. Following Christ is an opportunity to build a relationship with God and spend eternity with Him. He is aware of you and your circumstances, and never forget that He is a compassionate God.
