Convocation Service Brings College Community Together
On Friday, August 27th students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Sid Williams Chapel on the campus of Trinity College of Florida for its 2010 Convocation. Dr. James Lanpher, Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the attendees and reminded those gathered of the significance of the occasion. A Convocation Service is a formal assembly of individuals for a special event, in this case, the beginning of the new 2010-2011 academic year. The administration and faculty, dressed in academic regalia, provided a stately beginning to the school year.
Dr. Mark T. O’Farrell, President of Trinity College of Florida, addressed the audience and challenged the students, faculty, and staff to form lasting connections with God, each other, and their local faith community. Trinity College of Florida’s 2010 theme is: A YEAR TO CONNECT.
Following the President’s address, the faculty participated in the annual signing of the College’s doctrinal statement. This symbolical act signifies the administration and faculty’s commitment to upholding the ethical and theological standards adopted by the College. Convocation is held at the beginning of each academic year on the first Friday.
