Conference to Explore New Science Field
The C.S. Lewis Society is hosting SHAPING YOUR DNA DESTINY: Exploring Epigenetic Keys to Improving Your Health. This two day conference (February 24-25, 2012) held at Calvary Baptist Church (110 North McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL 33759) will focus on epigenetics, a field of study involving the hyper-complex system that runs DNA. Speakers for this conference include:
▪ Dr. Richard Sternberg, an expert on genetics, who holds two doctorates in biology. In the 2008 movie Expelled, Dr. Sternberg recounted to Ben Stein the harassment that he experienced at the Smithsonian Institute. He will explain recent revolutionary changes in the understanding of DNA and how it impacts our health.
▪ Dr. Michael Behe, author of Darwin's Black Box (2006) and The Edge of Evolution (2009). Dr. Behe is a world-renowned intelligent design theorist. He will explain why the evidence of creative design, found in "irreducibly complex" cellular systems, is stronger than ever and how mutations in DNA are shaping the landscape of our health.
▪ Dr. James Gills of the St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute, and Dr. Tom Woodward, Founder and Executive Director of the C.S. Lewis Society and research professor and chair of the Bible/Theology division at Trinity College of Florida will also discuss highlights from their new book, The Mysterious Epigenome: What Lies Beyond DNA.
▪ The event will also feature an interview with Keith Kilgore. Mr. Kilgore’s 22-year old son, Jesse committed suicide after reading Richard Dawkins' book, The God Delusion, which attacked God's existence in light of the evidence for evolution. Mr. Kilgore now argues for academic freedom regarding intelligent design.
The conference begins Friday night, February 24th at 7:00pm and resumes Saturday morning, February 25th at 9:00am.
